Also known as John Henry Holliday
John Henry Holliday, known as Doc Holliday, was a dentist, gambler, and gunfighter, and an associate of the lawman Wyatt Earp. He was born on 14 August 1851 and died on 8 November 1887. He is best known for the gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona. Popular accounts say he killed more than a dozen men. The English Wikipedia article reports that modern researchers put the number between one and three. At twenty he received a dentistry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Dental Surgery and set up a practice in Griffin, Georgia. He developed tuberculosis, the disease that had killed his mother, and moved to the Southwest in the hope that the climate would ease it. There he worked as a gambler.
