Also known as Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, Saint Teresa of Calcutta
Nun who founded the Missionaries of Charity and was later canonised. Born 1910.
Notes
Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, known as Mother Teresa and as Saint Teresa of Calcutta, was born on 26 August 1910 and died on 5 September 1997. Both of those public names are already stored on this Echo, and the years read 1910–1997. The summary names a nun who founded the Missionaries of Charity and was later canonised. The public record dates the founding of that congregation to 1950, and the canonisation to 4 September 2016. The Church marks 5 September, the anniversary of her death, as her feast day. Calcutta is named because the alias already says Saint Teresa of Calcutta. The 1979 Nobel Peace Prize citation reads “for her work for bringing help to suffering humanity.” That line is the committee’s wording from the Nobel Prize facts page. This note does not add a birthplace, a school, or a house. This research sheet is the page reached by motherteresa.si.
