Butch Cassidy 1866–1908
Also known as Robert LeRoy Parker
Robert LeRoy Parker, known as Butch Cassidy, was born on 13 April 1866 in Beaver, Utah Territory, the first of thirteen children of Maximillian Parker and Ann Campbell Gillies. He was a cowboy, a robber of trains and banks, and the leader of the Wild Bunch. The English Wikipedia article says law officers, including the Pinkerton detective agency, pursued him for more than a decade, and that he left the United States with Harry Longabaugh, known as the Sundance Kid, and with Etta Place. The year given for his death is 1908. Accounts of the place and the circumstances disagree, so this sheet does not name a place of death. Later films and novels are not treated here as a record of his life. The portrait is a black-and-white copy of a small public-domain photograph of him seated in a bowler hat. The original photographer is not identified on the file. Wikidata is Q313574.
